Drug Uses
Remeron Tablets are used for treatment of serious depressive disorder. Remeron is used to relieve symptoms of depression such as feelings of sadness, worthlessness, or guilt, loss of interest in daily activities, changes in appetite, tiredness, sleeping too much, insomnia, and thoughts of death or suicide.

How Taken
Remeron comes as a tablet. The starting dose is 15mg daily. It should be taken in a single dose with water. It is advised to take this drug in the evening before going to sleep.

Warnings/Precautions
Do not take Remeron with MAO inhibitors or for at least two weeks after their discontinuation. You may not be able to take Remeron or you may need dosage adjustment or monitoring while you are taking Remeron if you have liver or kidney disease, have epilepsy, seizures or have a manic–depressive disorder, had a heart attack in the last 6 weeks. Do not take Remeron if you are pregnant, likely to become pregnant or breast feeding as there have not been adequate studies of this drug`s effect during pregnancy. It is not known if Remeron passes into breast milk. Patients over 60 years old may be more sensitive to the side effects of Remeron, such as- drowsiness, dizziness, unsteadiness, feeling uncoordinated and low blood pressure. These patients may need a lower dose of this medication.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are- an allergic reaction (swelling of the lips/face/tongue, difficulty breathing), seizures, a fast or irregular heartbeat, fever, chills, sore throat, flu like symptoms, sores in your mouth or nose. If you experience any of these serious side effects, stop taking Remeron and seek medical attention immediately. Some of less serious side effects are- drowsiness, nausea, increase in weight or appetite, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, or mild tremor. Consult your doctor if you experience any of those or any other side effects.

Storage
Store this medication at room temperature 20–25°C (68–77°F). Keep away from children and excess heat, light and moisture (not in the bathroom).

Overdose
If overdose is suspected, seek medical attention immediately. Some of the signs of overdose are- disorientation, drowsiness, impaired memory, and tachycardia. There have been reports of ECG abnormalities, coma or convulsions following overdose with Remeron alone.

More Information
When taking this drug you may feel dizzy or lose conscious when getting up from sitting or lying position. Try getting up slowly, if that does not help and the problem continues you should notify your doctor. Be careful when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities. Be careful when taking alcohol during your treatment. It may increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking Remeron.
